There are lots of these lovely little flowers in the field at the moment, but quite hard to id which one though....

The Greengage tree has borne a huge quantity of fruit this year, having previously produced no more than half a dozen edible fruits in twenty years.  Running a close second is the damson, though in the past we have had a few fruit to eat but never that which could be described as a crop!



Blackberries are always plentiful though this year is exceptional both in quantity and quality.

We finally, after a few muttered cross words, completed fitting the Velux window in the new kitchen roof yesterday. I can now finish laying the roof tiles.



Why do we need one that big, Hilary asked before it was ordered, it's enormous..!!

Muscovys

Three of the Muscovy ducks were enjoying a little late evening sun tonight.

The Orchard

After a summer of neglect, the orchard is slowly beginning to it's normal tidy state. Thanks to Helen's hard work breaking the back of the rough work during her holiday while I have been busy tiling the new extension's roof, I was able to spend an hour tidying up with the strimmer this afternoon.

Mountain Ash (Sorbus)

The Mountain Ash berries are just starting to ripen here, the red clusters becoming more obvious among the other growth on the banks and verges.  We don't have that many Sorbus but hope to start planting more this winter and in the future, the birds love them.
